Q. Do I need to register with Q8Local to use its services ?
A. Although recommended, users are not required to register with Q8Local. Unregistered users (also called Guest users) can browse the website to get an understanding of what is offered, but cannot use critical site functions such as posting classifieds. Guest users are limited to what they can do on the site. They can:

Q. How can I register with Q8Local ?
A. Users can register themselves by clicking the Register link on the top right corner of the website. To prevent fraud, users are required to provide with a valid email address. After entering their e-mail address the user is sent an e-mail with instructions on how to proceed with the registration process. This ensures that the e-mail address entered is a valid one.
Q. I forgot my password. How can I retrieve it ?
A. The forgot password page, accessible from the Sign-in form, allows a user to retrieve his/her password. A value must be entered for one of two fields:

Q. Does an administrator monitor and approve all classifieds posted on Q8Local ?
A. Yes. Our administrators monitor all advertisements posted on Q8Local. Any advertisement violating our Terms of Use will be immediately deleted.
Q. For how many days is my classified posted on Q8Local ?
A. The number of days that your classified is listed on Q8Local depends on the duration you selected while creating your classified.
Q. What is the different status of a classified advertisement ?
A. A classified created by you can be in any one of the given states:

Active Ads: All classifieds posted by the current member that is active (searchable and browseable)

Expired Ads: All classifieds posted by the current member that are expired (ended or sold)

Pending Ads: All classifieds posted by the current member that are pending (waiting for administrator approval)

Rejected Ads: All classifieds posted by the current member that have been rejected by the administrator
Q. How can I mark my classified as SOLD ?
A. Go to My Accounts à My Ads à Active Ads. In the active classified listing, click the “Sold” option link for that classified.
Q. How can I stop/remove my classified from public listing ?
A. Go to My Accounts à My Ads à Active Ads. In the active classified listing, click the “Stop Ad” option link for that classified.
Q. Can I edit my classified once I create it ?
A. Go to My Accounts à My Ads à Active Ads. In the active classified listing, click the “Edit Ad” option link for that classified. The “Edit Ad” option is only enabled for the first 24 hours when the classified is created. After that, you cannot edit a classified.
Q. What type of classifieds are prohibited ?
A. For use of our Services, our rules are that you shall not post classifieds aimed at selling items or services that are illegal.

A. To have classifieds pertaining to your interest emailed to you, you can create an Ad Finder agent. An Ad Finder agent can be created by clicking the following link: My Accounts à Ad Finder à Create Ad Finder. You will need to provide your search criteria and submit. This will put Q8Local in action and all classifieds that satisfy your search criteria will be immediately emailed to you.
Q. What is the Q8Local internal mailing system ?
A. Q8Local members can contact the seller of an item without using external site methods (email, phone, etc.) using the Internal Mail system. This allows members to send a message to another member without leaving Q8Local.
Q. How can I send an email to another Q8Local user ?
A. The My Account à Mailbox à Compose message page is where a member can write a message to another member. On this page there are three required fields; Recipient, Subject, and Message. The recipient field must contain a valid username for a member of the site. If it does not an error message will be returned. The Subject and Message fields can contain any normal text. In addition to the text of the message, Emoticons can be used. These can be manually entered as text (

, etc.) or the member can click the desired emoticon on the Emoticon menu. This will automatically be converted into the Emoticon entered when the message is sent.
Q. How can I check and respond to emails sent to me ?
A. The My Account à Mailbox à Inbox page contains details of the message (sender, time sent, subject, message). There are two operations that can be performed on this page. The member can reply to the message using the Reply link or delete it using the Delete Message link. When Reply is chosen the member is taken to the Compose Message page and the message is automatically populated with the reply details.
Q. What is a Watchlist ?
A. The My Account à Watch List is a way to track listings that a user is interested in. It is similar to a bookmark in a web browser and allows a user to “bookmark” listings so that he/she can later access them from a single personalized list. Records are added to the Watch List from the view ad (Ad details) page.
Q. What is an Address Book ?
A. The My Account à Address Book page contains a list of all members that have been contacted by you. You can also add new members to the address book using the Input field and Add button. Members can also be deleted from this page or contacted from this page.
